As human beings, we all have different interests, paths, and stories, but the one thing that binds us all is our emotions. The problem is, most of us struggle to open up when those emotions are tied to trauma.

How can we move past the collective mental block that stops us from having more meaningful conversations with our loved ones? How can we foster more heart-centered interactions, so we can learn from our pain, instead of keeping it all in?

In this episode, the author of Cycle of Lives, David Richman shares the biggest lessons he learned while documenting the lives of 15 people affected by cancer.

Three Curiosity-Driven Takeaways

  • How to get better at having the hard conversations

It’s easy to express our emotions when we’re joyful: how can we get better at expressing our trauma

  • Why does hearing about others’ trauma assists us

How does understanding where someone’s trauma comes from make a positive impact on our lives?

  • How to break free from our fear of death

The fear of our mortality holds us back from so many of the things we want to do. How can we stop letting fear stop us
